Jason grew up a Spud in Moorhead, MN. From his parents, he learned all about designing and building cabins, airplanes and boats, and making music. He attended Montana State University on a 4 year Presidential Scholarship to study Cello and Mechanical Engineering. His circuitous path after graduation brought him to Iowa and Africa, but eventually found him at Luther Seminary where he studied theology while working in Acoustical testing, design and consulting for a couple of firms in Minneapolis.
Jason graduated with a Master’s of Divinity from Luther in 2007 and accepted his first pastoral call at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. In 2012, Jason was married to Erin Hewitt. This union plucked Jason from Sioux Falls and placed him in Rochester, MN to be with Erin and her three kids. That same year, Jason was called to be Pastor of Children, Youth, and Family at Bethel Lutheran in Rochester. One of the great pleasures and challenges in Jason’s life is sharing and seeing the freeing Word of Jesus go to work in others’ lives.
Currently Jason and Erin are kept very busy with their now 5 children: Anna, Lukas, Wesley, Rafe, and Josiah. When there is time to spare, Jason enjoys playing cello, working on airplanes and other projects in the garage, riding and maintaining motorcycles, and playing with the kids.
