A Way to Serve Others 

Have you ever wanted to go on a mission trip but didn’t have the time or money to afford the travel? Then this experience is for you! Our mission trip is Rochester-based. This is an inter-generational event for anyone age six and older.

Who Can Participate?

This is an inter-generational event for anyone age six and older. Youth ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration

To participate, it will cost $5.00 per family unit (which includes any or all of the six sessions and a daily meal).

When Are the Sessions?

Afternoons from 3:00-5:30 p.m.
Meal from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Evenings from 6:00-8:30 p.m.

You can sign up for one session each day or for all of the sessions. The meal is intended to bring all participants together to share fellowship between the sessions. After the closing devotions each evening, we will provide a special treat for you.

Descriptions of Service Projects

Bundles of Love
• Age 6 and up (parents must accompany children)
• Carpool to Assisi Heights from Bethel
• Bundles of Love offer opportunities to serve the community through sewing, quilting, crocheting and knitting for babies in the Rochester area
• You will be guided through the process of tracing, cutting fabric and other activities.

Card Making Station
• Any age 6 and up—parent please accompany children
• If you love to scrapbook this is the activity for you!
• Creat cards and a personalized thank you note to our military men and women serving overseas
• These cards will go with Tuesday’s group to Operation Home Town Gratitude to be placed in care packages.

Channel One Food Pantry
• Must be 10 years old
• Minor must be accompanied 1:1 with adults.
• Closed –toed shoes required for this activity (NO sandals)
• Car pool from Bethel to Channel One
• Package food as directed by Channel One employee (in the past we have packaged boxed foods, canned foods as well as meats)
• Encouraged to bring a can or boxed meal item to donate

Color Me Mine
• Any age (6 and up)
• Parent must accompany 9 and under
• Car pool to Color Me Mine studio to paint a pottery bowl (soup bowl) that will be fired and then later auctioned off in a charity auction to raise money for Channel One Food Pantry.

Family Services
• Age 10 and up
• Parent must accompany minors (13 and under)
Helping older adults with small chores around their home. This may include yard work, small cleaning projects, changing light bulbs, changing batteries in smoke alarms, or similar tasks. This helps these older adults with tasks that may be difficult for them and assists them being able to stay in their homes.

Fleece Blankets
• Any age (6 and up)
• 10 and under please have parent accompany
• Stay in Bethel Hall
• Cutting and tying of fleece to make blankets for children staying at the Ronald McDonald House
• Tuesday evening group will be delivering the blankets that have been made to the Ronald McDonald House (leave at 7:30 and be back at church for devotions and ice cream treat at 8:15)

Gift of Life Transplant House
• Age 14 and up
• NOTE: This service project requires commitment to both 1st and 2nd sessions on Tuesday
• Closed-toed shoes required (NO sandals)
• Carpool to Gift of Life Transplant House
• Prepare and serve meal to guests staying at the house
• Eat with house guests
• Tour house and learn about the service this house provides to transplant patients
• Clean up kitchen/bring supplies back to church
• Meet back at church for devotions and ice cream treats

Kitchen Help
• Adults only
• Will work out of Bethel Hall Kitchen
• Prepare sloppy joe meat for Tuesdays dinner at Gift of Life Transplant House
• Clean up supplies used

 Next Chapter Ministries
• Must be at least 14 years old
• Take dinner over to women’s group at Next Chapter Ministries (neighbors to Bethel) and serve meal
• Help them prepare for their upcoming fundraising BBQ event by organizing and putting things together such as tasting kits, silverware basket, etc

Operation Home Town Gratitude
• Any age 6 and up
• 10 and under must be accompanied by parent
• Load supplies collected from Christmas in July in to cars and carpool to Mayo High school
• Join high school students to pack boxes with supplies for military personnel serving overseas

Quarry Hill
• Any age (6 and up)
• Parent must accompany minors (15 and under)
• Outside project is pulling invasive plants/weeds
• Possible inside project available in case of inclement weather/excessive heat/age of participant
• Alternate project will be available at the church if weather does not permit going to Quarry Hill
• Bring work gloves
• Water bottles will be provided
• Long pants and light weight long sleeve shift recommended
• Closed-toed shoes required (NO sandals)

Samaritan Bethany
• Any age (6 and up)
• Parent must accompany minors (13 and under)
• Help residents make S’mores
• Sing with the residents

Socks of Love
• Any age (6 and up)
• 10 and under please have parent accompany
• Stay in Bethel Hall
• Assemble toiletries into a pair of new socks
• Donated to Dorothy Day House and Women’s Shelter
