Flu Shots at Bethel on Sunday, October 2
Did you know that the best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu vaccine each season? Bethel Lutheran Church and HyVee are working together to protect you from the flu this year. The HyVee Health & Wellness Team will again be offering influenza vaccinations (flu shots) at Bethel Lutheran Church. This year the event will take place on Sunday, October 2 from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon in the church office conference room. The vaccinations at the church will be available to those over the age of 6. The vaccine being offered is the injectable quadrivalent vaccine which protects against four strains of influenza. A high dose trivalent vaccine is recommended and available for those over age 65.
What exactly is influenza (flu)?
Influenza is a viral infection which causes a fever, body aches, a headache, a dry cough, and a sore or dry throat. The flu usually does not cause vomiting or diarrhea in adults. Certain people are at greater risk for serious complications if they get the flu. This includes older people, young children, pregnant women and people with certain health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease).
The vaccine is free of charge for Medicare patients. For those without insurance, the charge is $37.99.
Bring proof of insurance to the event:
