Financial Peace University is back at Bethel!
Dave Ramsey’s life-changing class starts Sunday, September 24, 2017.
What is Financial Peace University?
We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God’s ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend, and save wisely.
What are classes like?
Classes are fun, engaging, and challenge your mind. We will meet weekly Sunday nights from 6:30 to about 8:30pm at Bethel. A typical night will begin with a recap of the previous lesson and then we’ll watch the weekly FPU lesson together. After the lesson, we’ll break into small groups for more in depth discussion.
Do I have to share my income, debt load, or other personal information with the class?
Not at all; that is not how this works. FPU focuses on zero-based budgeting. The FPU coordinators are obligated to help everyone work towards a zero-based budget, but we don’t look at any individual’s income or debt. A couple of times throughout the nine lessons, we will collect financial data to get a cumulative financial view of the class. This data is strictly confidential and will not be tied to any personally identifiable information.
What topics are covered in FPU?
FPU covers financial topics relevant to everyone at any stage of life and in any financial situation. Specific topics include debt reduction strategies, preparing for emergencies, cash-flow planning, the role of insurance, saving for college/retirement, the role marketing plays on our financial decisions, as well as the ways different people relate to money.
Where can I learn more information about the next course?
Check out our class page for more information. From that page you can watch a preview of FPU from your phone, tablet or computer and register for our next class. More specific questions can be directed to email@example.com.
What is included in an FPU kit and what is the cost?
An FPU member kit includes the member workbook, audio of each course on CD, budget forms, the envelope system, a progress poster, and Dave Ramsey’s book “The Complete Guide to Money.” Once an individual or couple purchases an FPU membership from Dave Ramsey’s website and activates their membership they become LIFETIME members of FPU. FPU members can retake the course as many times as they like. FPU kits are purchased directly from Dave Ramsey’s website often with free shipping. The course usually costs between $100. Kits should be purchased prior to the first class if possible.
Meet the Financial Peace University Team at Bethel
Hilary and I have been married since 2000, we have four kids. Before attending FPU a few years ago, we were living paycheck-to-paycheck and struggling as a one-income family. After “graduating” from FPU in 2013, we were able to pay off multiple debts early, get on track financially, and plan for our future. Initially, I didn’t want to spend $93 for the class. However, it turned out to be the smartest money decision we ever made!
I’ve listened to Dave Ramsey’s radio show for years but was not fully applying the principals he preached. After the passing of family members and witnessing varying financial legacies left behind by each, I finally committed to FPU and applied the lessons. I now have peace of mind knowing my family’s financial future is secure. My wife, Kara and I have been married for 15 years and have 3 children – Layne (13), Jace (10) & Addison (9).
My wife Amanda and I have been married for 3 years, and we have one son Grayson who just turned 1. As a CPA I have always been very interested in the world of personal finances and have a passion for helping others become educated in these areas. We officially took the course in the winter of 2016, but have been following the logic of the Ramsey plan since we were married. If nothing else, I believe, what Dave Ramsey offers is a fundamentally sound and logical approach to doing what is best for you and your family’s finances.
