Dorothy Day HouseOnce a month Bethel partners with Dorothy Day House by providing food and helping to serve meals. The Dorothy Day Hospitality House is a temporary shelter for the homeless at 703 First St. SW in Rochester.

Bethels meal commitment is the fourth Saturday of the month. Serving starts at 6:00 PM and completed by 7:00 PM

What is needed for each Saturday meal?
5 Casseroles

5 Salads
2-3 Servers

How do we get volunteers each month?
There is a spot for volunteers to sign up in the “Count Me Ins” on 2nd and 3rd Sunday of the Month.

Dropping off food
Kitchen is in the back of the house – 703 First Street SW. Meals can be delivered to the kitchen:

  • Saturday between 4:00 – 5:00 PM
  • Friday night between 4:00 – 10:00 PM. Please place a label on the food that states “Bethel Lutheran for Saturday night” along with the heating instructions if needed

Food should be ready to serve, not frozen.

  • Two servers are needed on Saturday to arrive between 4:00-5:00 PM to receive the food and keep warm it in the oven. If food was dropped off Friday night it will need to be warmed up.
  • As a safety issue small children should not be in the kitchen. Children in diapers are not allowed in the kitchen.
